In short, you can't.

Mainstream DVD-writers (and media) are 4.7Gb efforts. You need a 9Gb writer
and media to be able to do that. Good luck finding that!

If you install libdvdcss (http://developers.videolan.org/libdvdcss/),
dvdbackup will be able to descramble your original, css'ified DVD on the
fly. You'll still have to re-encode tha audio and/or video streams in order
to bring the size of the files down, though.
