- Subject: [tlug] Kernel 2.6.5 Compiling problem
Hello, I have installed Debian Sarge and partitioned as following: /boot ext3 swap / xfs In the menuconfig I select to add in the kernel and not to compile as module both ext3 and xfs file system. Neverteless I have the following error on restart: Cannot open root device hdb7 or unknoww block (0,0) Please append a a correct "root=" boot option. Note 1) In the kernel 2.4 original present in sarge there are the same boot options and it works 2) I compiled the kernel patching it with the Nvidia driver 3) I complied the kernel in the debian way: make-kpkg kernel-image modules-image 4) I apt-geted install module-init-tools Is there something missing? Do you know why kernel can't find the partition even if all the needed modules are compiled in? Maybe a compatibility problem with the Nvidia drivers? Any Clue? Thanks Alex
