Of course, I haven't done my dist-upgrade today, it could be higher :-) One comment about your mention of using apt-get -t experimental install x-window-system to get the latest X stuff is that packages in Experimental are, well, experimental. I waited until KDE 3.2 filtered through into Sid, and even then I had some minor problems with it (now resolved). My rough guidelines for which flavor of Debian to run go something like this: Is it a server? Y - run Stable N - next question Is it an important workstation? Y - run Testing, or even Stable if it's really mission-critical N - next question Does it matter if this workstation actually works or not? Y - Next question N - Run Unstable, and install anything from Experimental that strikes your fancy. Is it a workstation on which you can afford some possible downtime? Y- Run Unstable N - Go back to the top and try again, or write another question :-) Using this decision chart, most people should be able to select the Debian flavor that is right for their situation. Experimental doesn't have to be as dangerous as I hint at, however, the warning on Unstable states that things *will* break. This should be considered doubly true for Experimental. Since I do need both of my Debian machines to generally work, I've never tempted fate with stuff out of Experimental.
