Further to earlier notes on Kanji server not being there.....
I went and bought a linus magazine, which had knoppix.  I loaded it and Kanji 
worked!!!

So I know my machine is capable...but why, oh, why does it not cooperate in 
Suse?  I wonder if anyone has any clues?
