Well
Used Japanese installation....Installed via CDs...the original video settings 
disappeared, but I could restore them.  Printer is back..... Japanese works, 
but no kanji....

たとえば you can see kana, right.

If I type takadanobaba I should get the Kana and then with space convert...
but get only たかだのばば 。。。。something about auxlliary control and kana/kanji 
server not being  able to access.....

hmmmmm

Paul@ well, kana  only is not THAT much of a handicap, but.....

Thought

I have an ATA Serial drive and when I was trying to install Windows 2000 
English on it, I had trouble....something about the Ausustek firmware needing 
an update (of course ona windows disk that came from Asustek when i had the 
computer made at TWO TOP..........Have no idea if there is some connection or 
if it would affect Linux, but in the absence of a clear explanation of why I 
getr told I have a good instal and yet cannot get Kanji.....well, I will 
throw out anything I can think of.
