Try to set the following parameter and check. Becoz it may be that japanese man pages are not installed. LC_CTYPE=ja_JP (set system locale to japanese) LANG=en_US (but this sets the intaractive messages like error, man pages to display in english) If nothing works, set LC_ALL=C and check. -Thomas On Thursday February 26 2004 10:20, Alessandro Mantelli wrote: > Hello again, I have a question about the man command. > In console(bash) works without problems instead in KDE3.2 under Konsole > (but I have tried also with the term of gnome) I have the following error > message: > > invalid charset name > man: command exited with status 256: /usr/bin/zsoelim /tmp/zmanzGEYud | > /usr/bin /tbl | /usr/bin/nroff -mandoc -Tascii8 | iconv -c -f > ISO-8859-1 -t EUC-JP | less > > the default Locale in Kde console is ja_jp but if I change it putting > LANG=en_us for example > the problem still remain.
