No kidding? I did my BA in Linguistics (UCSD) and like you, wish I had some

Phonology was my thing (something most of my fellow linguistics majors hated,
but I detested syntax at least as much, something that most of them liked).
The most enjoyable classes I had were Phonology II and after that (thanks to
being in the good graces of the prof, who taught me in Phonology 1), taking a
graduate phonology class (not an audit, I was allowed to enroll). The other
seven people in the class were all in the Ph.D program, and it was the most
intellectually stimulating class I've ever had.
I got accepted to a master's program in TESOL, but then moved to Japan instead
and along the way left teaching and went back into IT.
