[tlug] ibook and linux

hi!

i bought me an ibook g4 and want to install linux (first try will be yellow dog linux) - i found several ressources in the net but i want to know if someone on the net has experiences in it.

also another question: at time i'm using mac os x (it's bsd-based so i hope i will get no complaints about such a question in a linux-group) and i want to use openoffice: how can i use japanese input in x11-apps. 
i found ressources in the net where they write something about canna and kinput2 but it seems didn't convert them right now. and if they are available how do i use them - in a usual unix-environment i start canna at start-up-time how about mac os x? someone here with experiences in it?
