Heh -- Mandrake wouldn't even let me set up a /root partition and maintained
in no uncertain terms that it had to be a subdirectory of the root "/".

That's one good reason to avoid it.

Secondly, the kernel is patched to death by chimps who don't know how to
program kernel space stuff. RH is also patched to death but at least the
programmers know what they're doing (I believe Alan Cox is one of them).

Finally, Mandrake are spammers. I received several of these to addresses
scraped off usenet:
