And Thus Spake Jonathan Byrne <jq@example.com> (on Mon, 25 Aug 2003 20:51:30 -0700): > Just when I think I've found every possible reason to despise > Mandrake, I find another one :-p Heh -- Mandrake wouldn't even let me set up a /root partition and maintained in no uncertain terms that it had to be a subdirectory of the root "/". That's one good reason to avoid it. Secondly, the kernel is patched to death by chimps who don't know how to program kernel space stuff. RH is also patched to death but at least the programmers know what they're doing (I believe Alan Cox is one of them). Finally, Mandrake are spammers. I received several of these to addresses scraped off usenet: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Received: from mailgate.cesmail.net (mailgate.cesmail.net [216.154.195.36]) by gstewart.homeunix.net (8.12.9/8.12.9) with SMTP id h4QEbWw3031505 for <x>; Mon, 26 May 2003 16:37:34 +0200 Received: (qmail 31717 invoked from network); 26 May 2003 14:37:27 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO alpha.cesmail.net) (192.168.1.155) by mailgate.cesmail.net with SMTP; 26 May 2003 14:37:27 -0000 Received: (qmail 30981 invoked by uid 1010); 26 May 2003 14:37:27 -0000 Delivered-To: x Received: (qmail 30921 invoked from network); 26 May 2003 14:37:24 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO mailgate.cesmail.net) (192.168.1.101) by alpha.cesmail.net with SMTP; 26 May 2003 14:37:24 -0000 Received: (qmail 31656 invoked from network); 26 May 2003 14:37:24 -0000 Received: from office.mandrakesoft.com (195.68.114.34) by mailgate.cesmail.net with SMTP; 26 May 2003 14:37:24 -0000 Received: from mandrakesoft.com (katinka.mandrakesoft.com [192.168.1.57]) by office.mandrakesoft.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 85C3843216; Mon, 26 May 2003 16:36:23 +0200 (CEST) Message-ID: <3ED2________0108@example.com> Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 16:47:00 +0200 From: Gaurav Parakh <gparakh@example.com> Organization: MandrakeSoft S.A.
