+AD4- -----Original Message----- +AD4- From: Joe Larabell +AFs-mailto:larabell+AEA-synopsys.co.jp+AF0- +AD4- Sent: Monday, June 23, 2003 3:17 PM +AD4- To: tlug+AEA-tlug.jp +AD4- Subject: Re: +AFs-tlug+AF0- dualboot WinXP/Linux +AD4- +AD4- BTW, the makers of PM also claim they can manipulate (ie: +AD4- create, resize, +AD4- etc) EXT2/3 partitions as well. Ahhh... If only they'd port +AD4- the thing to a real O/S instead of releasing it only on Windoze. +AD4- Thats exactly the question one should ask. Not only partition magic, but also Ghost for Disk Imaging, or OEM utility disks still come with MS-DOS. Ghost tried to provide PC-DOS along with its 6.5 version, but there were some compatibility options so they recommended using ms-dos instead (but didn't provide a copy). MS-DOS requires a license though ... so they should be able to save loads of cash or improve the service by actually providing linux as the host for those tools. ONe reason may be that developers had access to NTFS source code, and so they cannot bring their this MS know-how into the Public Domain by including it as Linux source code... Can anyone think(or know) other reasons? Patrick
