Hello Work is the Japanese govt employment office. Thier web presence is in Japanese only (even the gaijin section!) at www.tfemploy.go.jp. Roppongi Job Park has a full time English translator, and they are very helpfull and friendly (but like all things work related at the present time, 100% useless!). They gave me list of web-sites, which I've HTMLerized and appended. The basic story, which you've probably picked up by now is that you're wasting your time applying in English. I have lost count of the number of jobs I've applied for, but I can count on two fingers the number of replies! I've heard the same story four times now. It seems to me that you have apply in Japanese (special CV paper, ????= rirekisyo, handwritten, with photo, plus begging letter) and then phone them to get any sort of response. That means you've got to be able to speak, and read, Japanese. Does anyone have any other suggestions, or experiences ? Kinda related, I came across a position for a researcher with 10+ years, some embedded and USB at www.linuxdevices.com. Fact #1 here's Linux jobs around the world. Fact #2 this company in Tokyo called NipponRAD (www.nippon-rad.co.jp) is looking for a guru. Does anyone know anything about them ? (It always pays to reseach an prospective employer.) Just my 0.02Euros worth (there's no euro symbol on the Japanese kbd!)
