Not sure if anyone is interested, but I did a bit more experimenting for
my own curiosity. The patch to enable an OE client to read a mutt gpg
signed email without it being considered an attachment is here:

It does work. In Gentoo, it's a bit of a nuisance, as you have to
unpack an ebuild, install the patch, then continue. I also found that I
had to temporarily get rid of my cjk USE variables in /etc/make.conf.
Otherwise, there's another Japanese patch that gets downloaded, that
apparently interferes with it.
