To be honest, I don't have the exact model number, it's a no-name brand I bought at Fry's Electronics (a huge retailer in the states). It's a Kaiser based on the S3 chipset 4 meg. but I'll have to open the box to get the exact model number. I also have a Viper V770 lying around here somewhere I can use. > > Editing the XF86Config settings (you may need to edit it in > /etc/X11/XF86Config-4) should get you the results you need (restart > X after editing). I see that it lists all the possible video modes, but I'm not clear on how it stores information on which mode to boot to? > Aside: by Red Hat 7, you mean 7.2, right? nope, 7. I downloaded it last year, just haven't used it until now. too many other computer projects. By the way, this is a client computer hanging off a win2k network. Thanks to Alberto, I've been able to get it so it can see the internet (one of the win2k boxes is the NAT). Once I get this video problem solved, I'll need to setup file and print sharing on a windows network.
