Norman, Thanks for the hint. Still have not found the remedy, unfortunately. Perhaps there is something else involved when this latest version of X is being used? The default 50 milliseconds was present in XF86Config but not in XF86Config-4. An examination of the console running X shows the following lines: (**) Mouse0: Protocol: "PS/2" (**) Mouse0: Core Pointer (==) Mouse0: Buttons: 3 (**) Mouse0: Emulate3Buttons, Emulate3Timeout: 50 (**) Mouse0: ZAxisMapping: buttons 4 and 5 *** /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 looks like this: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse0" # Modified by mouseconfig Driver "mouse" Option "Device" "/dev/mouse" Option "Protocol" "PS/2" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection ----------------------- *** /etc/X11/XF86Config looks like this: # Emulate3Buttons is an option for 2-button Microsoft mice # Emulate3Timeout is the timeout in milliseconds (default is 50ms) Emulate3Buttons Emulate3Timeout 50
