Re: boot error

Every rescue floppy I have says:
===============================================
Loading  ...........................................................................................

(All lines omitted)

Kernel panic : VFS : Unable to mount root fs on 03:01
===============================================
So, it gives me no help.  It seems a problem about file systems.  My HD was FAT32-FDISKed and then incidentally FAT16-FDISKed after Windows was deleted.  Even I tried an old bootable CD-ROM of Slackware 3.6 and its boot floppies I was familier with.

Again, my purpose is simply to boot Linux normally from a CD-ROM.  Give me chips of help.

Thanks for some quick responses, but I'm trying the 1st time setup, using a bootable CD-ROM.  It's weird to me.

I'm perplexed in the error shown below.  What's going on?  Please inform me of how to get rid of this trouble.  Or, tell me which document I should take a look at.  Thank you.
