errr..I said boot disk not rescue disk.also>panic : VFS : Unable to mount root fs on 03:01you usually got that error when your "/" partition location has changed (location is different from lilo)in lilo.conf there is a line which says "root=/dev/hda1" ( the "hd??" part could be different in your case)which tell the kernel where your "/" is.so in your case I think 3 thing could have happened1.) Your rescue disk is incorrect2.) Your partition table has been changed3.) Your disk might be corruptedIt will really help us to help you if you can tell us exactly what happen and what did you doalso what is your linux knowledge level----- Original Message -----From: hatsuhiroTo: tlug@example.comSent: Tuesday, September 04, 2001 12:20 AMSubject: Re: boot errorEvery rescue floppy I have says:===============================================Loading ...........................................................................................(All lines omitted)Kernel panic : VFS : Unable to mount root fs on 03:01===============================================So, it gives me no help. It seems a problem about file systems. My HD was FAT32-FDISKed and then incidentally FAT16-FDISKed after Windows was deleted. Even I tried an old bootable CD-ROM of Slackware 3.6 and its boot floppies I was familier with.Again, my purpose is simply to boot Linux normally from a CD-ROM. Give me chips of help.Hoshino----- Original Message -----From: hatsuhiroTo: tlug@example.comSent: Tuesday, September 04, 2001 3:28 PMSubject: Re: boot errorThanks for some quick responses, but I'm trying the 1st time setup, using a bootable CD-ROM. It's weird to me.Hoshino----- Original Message -----From: hatsuhiroSent: Tuesday, September 04, 2001 1:25 PMSubject: boot errorI'm perplexed in the error shown below. What's going on? Please inform me of how to get rid of this trouble. Or, tell me which document I should take a look at.
