Not to sound like a typical command line elitist, but I think you will be much happier if you learn to do the configuration of your system via hand editing of files. Short of XF86Config, which I regard as impossible to do by hand [1], this has always served me better. The tools([n]curses or X) are frequently not uptodate with the version of whatever software they are supposed to configure. This leads to them using improper syntax, or old options, and even incorrect files for the configuration. The most notorious of these beasts is linuxconf, which is just happens to be one of the fastest ways to a broken system around. Just my thoughts, Michael 1. This does not include minor tweaking of resolution, bit depth, mouse setup, monitor refresh or the like. -----Original Message----- From: Jean-Christian Imbeault [mailto:jean_christian@example.com] Sent: 13”N7ŒŽ13“ú 10:11 To: tlug@example.com Subject: RH net configuration GUI tool buggy? On RH 7.1 I was trying to the Net Configuration GUI tool to set up my ethernet card. All the settings seemed to work except for the default gateway. Under the routing tab I added a default gw ip address but a quick look at route's output showed that no gw had been installed. I added the gw using route and everything is fine now. My question is this, had anyone else noticed this problem? Is this really a porblem or did I use the wrong GUI tool for the job?
