Same for me.
At least it seems to be an 9385:

lspci gives:
00:0c.0 VGA compatible controller: Trident Microsystems TGUI 9660/968x/968x (rev d3)

startx output gives:
(--) Chipset tgui9660 found
[...]
(--) TRIDENT(0): Revision is 52
(--) TRIDENT(0): Found Cyber 9385 chip
                             ^^^^
I would expect that to be the real chip type.

(--) TRIDENT(0): RAM type is EDO Ram

(--) TRIDENT(0): TFT Panel 800x600 found
(--) TRIDENT(0): Memory Clock is 65.97 MHz

(II) TRIDENT(0): Generic Monitor: Using vrefresh range of 50.00-65.00 Hz
(II) TRIDENT(0): Clock range: 12.00 to 135.00 MHz

As you can see I limited the vrefresh to 50-65Hz to get it working

I don't have any problems like that but it's only a 800x600 tft display.
