I don't think there is anyway to resolve conflicts easily using RPMs. Anything
that does is a wrapper around rpm since the functionality isn't there natively.
I know a few packages, red carpet for example, will do some resolution for
you, and rpmfind will sometimes automate the download install process, but
switching to debian and apt-get comes highly recommended. One could always 
switch to NetBSD with pkgsrc or FreeBSD with ports ;).  Any of the above are
better than the RPM system.
