Do Peter> I have to install these, or are they installed and just Peter> need activating somehow? You need to install them. Somebody who knows RPM may be able to give you a shortcut, but the brute-force method is just to keep adding the failed dependencies until you either succeed in installing or get a conflict. Try "rpm -q --whatprovides Xserver" (and then the various libraries) to find out what packages are available to fulfill those dependencies. You only want to install the Xserver for your video chip, and probably anything that provides libtcl.so and libtk.so will do for those. Once you've decided what you're going to install, you can stack them all on the command line rpm -i pkg1.rpm pkg2.rpm pkg3.rpm. I'm a Debian user, and spoiled. apt does all this automatically with the --fix-broken flag. :-) Peter> Peter "getting nostalgic for Peter> CP/M-80" Evans peter@example.com Then why are you fussing about with X servers? ;-) -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ What are those straight lines for?
