Dunno about "easy to use". I have been using Tcl/Tk with some success for that purpose, in particular using the "mktclapp" utility to simplify the Tk/C interface. I can keep the amount of Tcl to a minimum. I took this approach, because the stuff I'm writing should be able to run under Windows and MacOS as well.
