Example:

* set XMODIFIERS to proper value
* start cannaserver
* start kinput2
* start rxvt in gdb
* set breakpoint at main.c:1238
* examine value of variable xim

I have an (unsubstantiated, due to lack of enough time to devote to this
problem) suspicion that the *IM() routines will do the wrong thing if
the user locale is set incorrectly, no matter what XMODIFIERS is set to.
