Why would it hurt to let configure pass and start compiling no matter what version
the kernel headers are? Just give a warning, and let it go on. If it chokes during
compile, I wouldn't blame anyone. And what if I have different but still "known
good" kernel headers other than 2.2.15. Or is it the only kernel that glibc will
accept? And afaik woody comes with a different kernel, it would be the
maintainers job to change the glibc-debian patch to let it compile with different
kernel headers. So I just don't get it. :-O

Here is what I have:
ii tetex-base 1.0-10 basic teTeX library files
ii tetex-bin 1.0.6-7 teTeX binary files
ii tetex-doc 1.0-10 teTeX documentation
ii tetex-extra 1.0-10 extra teTeX library files
ii tetex-lib 1.0.6-7 shared libkpathsea for teTeX
ii xdvik-ja 22.15-j1.03-3 X-window TeX previewer

xdvik-ja is the same as yours. I suspect (according to strace) that the segfault
is caused by some fonts.
Should I downgrade latex (how?) or get/purge font packages ?

It's in the attachment. A little big, sorry about that.
