Recent kernels are that big. I don't understand why kernel-package is not automatically making a bzImage ("b(ig) (g)z(ipped) image"). Use the `--bzimage' argument to make-kpkg. Pay no attention to those men behind the curtain. They don't know what they're talking about. (Sorry, guys!) Chris doesn't use package managers at all (because they're not brewed or fermented, I guess?), and Frank, although a Debian guy, evidently doesn't use kernel-package. Those commands will get you a kernel, but you'll have to do the installation yourself without the benefit of a .deb. Then you will be facing the configuration and build of the PCMCIA stuff without any support from make-kpkg because you will be lacking its "task-done" stamps in your kernel hierarchy. Doing it the traditional way is not that hard, but using make-kpkg is definitely less work on your part, and less confusing decisions. Ie, easier for me to support _without_ putting my hands on your keyboard. If Chris or Frank will walk you through the PCMCIA config and build, be my guest! It's more fun that way, anyway. :-) -- University of Tsukuba Tennodai 1-1-1 Tsukuba 305-8573 JAPAN Institute of Policy and Planning Sciences Tel/fax: +81 (298) 53-5091 _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ What are those straight lines for?
