Subba Rao (lists.tlug): >For the sake of discussion, here is an interesting article on Open >source security. >http://developer.earthweb.com/journal/techfocus/052600_security.html Well, he draws a lot of very general points out of his own relatively small project, written in a relatively unpopular programming language - no, that's not a dig at Python, it's something he acknowledges himself. He never refers to OpenBSD and the OpenBSD source audit, nor the Linux Security Audit project. And he misses out the obvious conclusion: open source projects are not *magically* secure - someone still has to do the work. With closed source projects, you don't even have the option. -- If a 6600 used paper tape instead of core memory, it would use up tape at about 30 miles/second. -- Grishman, Assembly Language Programming ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Next Meeting (w/ YLUG): June 16 (Fri) 19:00 Mizonoguchi Marui Family 12F Next Technical Meeting: July 8 (Sat) 13:30 Topic: TBA ----------------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://www.tlug.gr.jp Sponsor: Global Online Japan
