I'm using Tokyu-CATV for my network connection. It's a 24/7 service and costs \5,200 per month, or \3,400 if you're already using CATV(TV-only) service. Advertised bandwidth is 10Mbps (since you connect your PC to CATV modem with 10BaseT Ethernet), and I can sometimes enjoy speed of 2Mbps+ (200KBps+) bitrate especially in early morning. This is almost the best you can get when sharing 10BaseT network with multiple PCs. I've been monitoring speed of this network for several month and got average of 100Kbps-1Mbps, depending on time and date. On the other hand, it seems more and more people are coming to use this service, and I sometimes experience slow network connection (near 1B-ISDN level) which is usually followed by hardware upgrade to expand upstream network bandwidth. >From what I read, internal network is connected by 622Mbps ATM and upstream is 55Mbps to IIJ (it was like few Mbps about a year ago). Hope this helps. -- T.
