Daniel,

I'd recommend applying to some IT recruiters here in Tokyo as soon as you arrive
as well as browsing the jobs posted at sites such as www.daijob.com/en/ and
www.careercross.com/en/.

I have to say though that your prospects without business level
Japanese will be fewer
than if you had those skills, but don't be discouraged. There are a
number of foreign
capitalized companies that will hire techs who speak English.
Also, it seems like a joke to the old hands, but HR monkeys love to
see certs on a
resume. So if you have some of those (even if you got them 10 years
ago) make sure
to include them.
