[tlug] [OT] Job hunting

My wife and i currently live in the US but are looking to relocate to
Japan soon. Therefore, i need to find a job. My wife is Japanese, so i
presume that whatever organization i work for shouldn't have to deal
with the hassle of sponsoring me.

So, my question is, how does one go about finding a job in Japan?

I know some Japanese, but not enough to be conversational yet. I expect
that to be a major limitation, and am actively studying to get up to a
conversational level. As far as working ability, i describe myself as a
Linux system administrator and open source software developer. I can
work with any Linux distribution as well as the BSDs and have done work
with Solaris too. As far as programming goes, Perl is the language i'm
most proficient in, but i have worked with about 2 dozen languages and
dialects so picking up new ones is not usually very difficult. I'm not
terribly great at OOP programming, but can handle imperative and
functional fairly well. Of course i can also work in some things that
are similar to programming but not quite, such as XHTML, SQL, regex,
etc. Basically i'm a not-atypical *nix admin / programmer type. It is
fairly easy for me to find jobs in the US. In Japan will be a challenge
though and i'd appreciate any pointers to job sites or cultural hints or
anything really.
