tlug: Groups

Hi Uvator,

When adding a new user, you can specify the group to assign the new user to
with:

adduser -g <groupname> <username>

Say hi to Nathan for me. ;-)

Hi,

I wonder why a user, let's say, HERNAME on Linux belongs to the group
HERNAME by default. What's the philosophy behind it? What's the
purpose of existing of such a group if only one user belongs to it?

Whenever I want to create a common group, I have to replace the default
group name with this new group name. Is this the way to do it?

Thanks.
