I recommend installing rpms from JRPM60: <ftp://ftp.kddlabs.co.jp:/Linux/jrpm/JRPM60/ALL/> I am using packages from there with Redhat 6.0 and it works pretty well for me. I recommend installing at least the following: Canna-3.5b2-20JRPM60.i386.rpm jgrep-2.0jp-1JRPM60.i386.rpm (optional) kinput2-canna-v3-2JRPM60.i386.rpm kon2-0.3.7-3JRPM60.i386.rpm kon2-font-0.3.7-3JRPM60.i386.rpm kterm-6.2.0-9JRPM60.i386.rpm less-332jp-6JRPM60.i386.rpm (optional) locale-ja-2.1.1.1-2.noarch.rpm nkf-1.70p1-1JRPM60.i386.rpm (optional) [pgp-2.6.3ijp-2JRPM60.i386.rpm (one way to get pgp)] If you don't have XEmacs, but want it: xemacs-21.1.4-28JRPM60.i386.rpm xemacs-Canna-21.1.4-28JRPM60.i386.rpm (or xemacs-Wnn or ...) xemacs-el-21.1.4-28JRPM60.i386.rpm xemacs-info-21.1.4-28JRPM60.i386.rpm xemacs-sumo-19990729-4JRPM60.noarch.rpm xemacs-sumo-el-19990729-4JRPM60.noarch.rpm I'm having trouble with pTeX (ASCII's Japanese TeX) since I didn't install X servers with TrueType support and their xdvik seems to use TT to display Japanese. Also I can't get ghostview to display Japanese postscript... I guess one of the problems with JRPM is that there is not that much information or documentation available on what to install and what packages do.
