Re: tlug: mime.types(mpeg-4)

Dear Stephen,

Thanks very much for the info. I really appreciate this.
But I should have explained my problem more precisely.

The server (Linux) runs httpd, and one of my users puts lots of
mpeg-4 files into his public_html directory. He has put mpeg-1s
as well. Now when, from a PC with win98 or NT, I try to view
those mpeg files, I can view the files in mpeg-1 format all right,
and that is natural because mpeg-1 means a standard mpeg format.
But when I try to view files formatted in mpeg-4, just gibberish
come up onto my screen. Then I put a line, 'video/mpeg-4 asf'
into the mime.types. But still gibberish come up. This is what I
wanted to ask about.
1) what is the correct mime.type line for mpeg-4 in the server side?
2) what plug-in do I need in a PC side to view the mpeg-4 files?
I am sorry this is a way too much fundamental question I presume.
But simply I am stuck. ...
