Two questions about kterm. I am using the kterm from TLJ 4.0 on TLC 4.0 (Chinese). It works quite well with jvim, kinput2+canna, kinput2x+atok, etc. But, it gives the following error when invoked usually within xterm or cxterm. Warning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: Space Warning: ... found while parsing 'Shift<Key>Space: begin-conversion(_JAPANESE_CONVERSION)' Couldn't set locale: ja_JP.eucJP,ja_JP.ujis,ja_JP.EUC,japanese.euc,Japanese-EUC,ja,japan What am I missing? It looks like the locale files exist within /usr/share. I'm wondering if two errors that I get are not related to the above problem. The first is that the command to startup atok, (kinput2x -atok -server localhost) , results in a "can't connect" error (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't). The second is that xterm, kterm and other terminals complain that the display is not set. this can be fixed by setting the display with export DISPLAY=<machinename>:0 . Are these problems occurring because I am defying some law of nature by running kterm on a Chinese-oriented system? Just to see what would happen, I tried to rebuild the kterm rpm source file under TLC 4.0. It resulted in the following derailment (screechy crashing sound was heard throughout the room). In file included from main.c:286: /usr/include/sys/param.h:29: warning: `NBBY' redefined /usr/X11R6/include/X11/Xpoll.h:73: warning: this is the location of the previous definition gcc -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -I/usr/X11R6/include -Dlinux -D__i386__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500L -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO -DKTERM -DSTATUSLINE -DKEEPALIVE -c menu.c -o menu.o rm -f misc.o gcc -c -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -I/usr/X11R6/include -Dlinux -D__i386__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500L -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO -DKTERM -DSTATUSLINE -DKEEPALIVE misc.c gcc -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -I/usr/X11R6/include -Dlinux -D__i386__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500L -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO -DKTERM -DSTATUSLINE -DKEEPALIVE -c screen.c -o screen.o screen.c:49: conflicting types for `calloc' /usr/include/stdlib.h:476: previous declaration of `calloc' screen.c:49: conflicting types for `malloc' /usr/include/stdlib.h:474: previous declaration of `malloc' make: *** [screen.o] Error 1 Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.45421 (%build) Thanks in advance.
