I would guess that they simply don't consider Kerberos open source.  I 
believe that Kerberos 5 is definitely not, and there is an open source 
implementation of Kerberos 4, but it requires that you put in your own 
stuff.

However, Kerberos has presumably been superceded, and perhaps
incorporated, in the IPsec effort.  Keywords: IPsec, virtual private
