Well, I d/l'd gnucash and you were right.  It crashes on some rather
routine mouse events, and the date the file was last updated was 16
March. 

Oh well, maybe I should go for wine/vmware and Quicken or even money...

If memory serves, gnucash is part of the GNOME project.  It's extremely
alpha.

You might be better served to use Quicken under WINE, if you'd rather not
deal with random core dumps.. It supposedly runs perfectly, though I
haven't tried it.
