Many thanks to Mr. Yamagata for the advice regarding pcmcia-cs. The pcmcia slots are working fine now, but the scsi card problem persists. I'd appreciate it very much if someone with a scsi card that definitely works would bring to a TLUG meeting or nomikai so that I can try inserting it my laptop's pcmcia slot; perhaps the problem lies in the card (more than likely it lies in the card's owner, however).
