tlug: Building ps 1.2.9

Before compiling kernel 2.2, I've been upgrading the utilities. ps
--version told me 1.2.7, and 1.2.9 is needed, so I started there: unzipped
it, followed the make instructions, but I still get told 1.2.7 (otherwise
it seems to work fine). I've tried rebooting and I've checked paths, in
case it was still finding the old version, but it had been put in /bin
correctly with todays datestamp. So I did make again, but still no change.

>From inside procps-1.2.9 directory, after running make there is a new file
called ps. "./ps --version" tells me 1.2.7. The NEWS file talks about 1.2.9
and 1.2.8 so I have the correct gz file.

Any suggestions? I've not yet put the 2.2 kernel source in place [*] -
would that make a difference?

Darren

*: I'm currently running kernel 2.0.34. Is there any need to go 2.0.36
before going to 2.2?
