I've experienced this speed boost, too.  I installed the 2.2.1 kernel on
my work machine on Sunday (P233, 256 meg) and the speed difference is
really noticeable.  It surprised me, even.  The machine feels like
somebody plunked a faster CPU in it.  Quite impressive.

TL has a 2.2.1 RPM available.  Look in the 3.0.1 updates directory on
ftp.pht.com.

Yeah, me too.  Brave or stupid, you pick  :-)  Works great, though.
