I've just been installing Redhat. My network card was not listed in the options, but the maker has a driver on their website: http://www.planex.co.jp/support/974linux.htm But Redhat wouldn't let me install networking, because it couldn't find the card. I tried a couple to see what happens, but it just gave an error. After finishing the install I compiled the Planex driver, and I can use insmod to load it, and it shows the ethernet address, so it seems to have worked. Do I really have to install all the networking stuff by hand? I couldn't see a "Use Manufacturers Disk" option when installing redhat, but is there a post-install program I can run that will do all the work for me? The NET3-howto says I can run /sbin/netcfg on a RH system, but it isn't there. Was that part of the networking that RH refused to install? :-) Darren ------------------------------------------------------------------- Next Nomikai: March 19 (Fri), 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 Next Technical Meeting: April 10 (Sat), 12:30 place: Temple Univ. ------------------------------------------------------------------- more info: http://tlug.linux.or.jp Sponsor: PHT
