DXs were extremely buggy silicon.  One would think that they were designed
by Oak ;)

Their second try worked much better.

The best thing about S3 cards was that S3 was quite forthcoming with
programming specifications.  Card X may have the best silicon in the known
universe, but if the driver is shitty then you've just wasted your money.
