Indeed, searching for net-pf under DejaNews gave 125 hits. Agreeing with
what you stated, one response read as below:-

It generally relates to networking features (eg. AppleTalk) that you
haven't
compiled into the kernel, etc.

You can get rid off the messages by adding the following lines to your
/etc/conf.modules file:

alias net-pf-4 off
alias net-pf-5 off
