You can find the actual pid either using > > # pidof inetd ... or you could skip all that and just do # killall -HUP inetd The 'killall' command takes the name of any program you want to zap ... but of course it kills all (all running instances of the named program), so if you only want to kill one instance, you have to use 'kill.' Maybe there's a good reason for not using 'killall.' Not being an experienced sysadmin, I don't know what that might be.
