tlug: shutdown with xdm

Hi,

Sorry, I can't be of much help with the xemacs questions. I
only occasionally use it, and then, it's only to see what
all the fuss is about :)

Did you try startx?

In a xterm su to root which looks something like

schweiz:~$ su
Password:
root:/home/schweiz#

then

root:/home/schweiz# shutdown -h now

should safely shut down your system. Yours only mutters?
Mine would fsck if I just turned it off....

HTH
