 I did some research with Redhat5.1 (Usually I use this machine with
Stampede-0.86. So I don't need to bother with Redhat5.1 problem.)

#depmod -a
can't open /lib/modules/2.0.34/modules.dep

Actually modules.dep exists at
/lib/modules/2.0.34-0.6

#uname -a
Linux baystars.saitama.co.jp 2.0.34 #1 Fri May 8 16:05:57 EDT 1998 i686 unknown

 Redhat5.1 is using a pre-version of <2.0.34>. Booting code is
</boot/vmlinuz-2.0.34-0.6>

Finally I learned why novices with Redhat5.1 complain that the can't mount
CDs.
