(I did set up "LANG=ja_EUC" in my .bash_profile.) Should be LANG=ja_JP.EUC or something along these lines. > Having downloaded all of the JRPMs from ftp.lab.kdd.co.jp, I tried > upgrading kterm from the RH5.1 stock version (i.e., kterm-6.2.0-3) to > kterm-6.2.0-7, the version that I had downloaded from kdd. There aren't that many packages you need to just use kterm. You'll need canna (watch out on this, as the rpm's of the past did not install this properly, and trying to build apps like pine-jp were a pain), kinput2 and some other fonts if you like fiddling with them. Just start your cannaserver from /etc/rc.d/init.d and then fire up kinput2 -canna, and it works pretty much out of the box then in kterm. Trying to read up on locale will get you not much more than a good headache...
