Only since you asked.   I _really_ like `Using Linux,` by Bill Ball, QUE
Press (Copyright 1998).  *Not to be confused* with the older 3rd Edition,
the `Special Edition`.

Also, I am extremely NOT fond of IDG books in general, particularly the
`Dummies` series which are almost impossibly deviod of content. But as good
Linux-using friend of mine in Singapore flamed me, the `Linux: Quick
Reference` is done by Phil Hughes, the editor of the Linux Journal.  As a
result, it is surprising comprehensive and non-stupid.  Though I am morally
opposed to supporting this series (as I think we all should be),  I had a
detailed browse thru it and it`s really okay to pretty good.  (Phil must
have needed the money.  Either that or he was afraid the job would get done
by one of the usual suspects.  ;->  ).

Books for new-users aside, it seems to me we have more than developers to
justify the O`Reilly tome on Linux device drivers (of course, the people
who would use this book probably already have it).  And just to go crazy
crazy, why not an O`Reilly Perl book or even two?  (Hell, it`s not my money!).
