Could be that that particular card doesn't like it. My Velocity 128 (much faster card - trade in your Velocity 3D for a Velocity 128..) has a serious problem with the XFree86 DGA extension, and it only works in 8, 15, or 32bpp, which is very .... odd. Could just be the card - if it works in other resolutions, I'd suspect that's the case, and AccelX has some kind of workaround in place that XFree86 does not - Chris would know better than I would, though. As for the monitor specs, send them to me, directly to me. Best to use the custom monitor cfg in turboxcfg and then send me your XF86Config - are the correct settings in the one attached here? > > Thanks for any advice, > > Manuel > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > # > # XF86Config generated by turboxcfg 4.0.1 > # Please do not edit this file by hand! > # Run turboxcfg to make changes to the X configuration. > # For advanced users, details about the format of this file > # can be found in the XF86Config(4/5) man page. > # Report problems to support@example.com > > Section "Files" > RgbPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb" > FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/" > FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/" > FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/" > FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/" > FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/" > EndSection > > Section "ServerFlags" > # NoTrapSignals > # DontZap > # DontZoom > EndSection > > Section "Keyboard" > Protocol "Standard" > AutoRepeat 500 5 > LeftAlt Meta > RightAlt Meta > XkbRules "xfree86" > XkbModel "jp106" > XkbLayout "jp" > EndSection > > Section "Pointer" > Protocol "PS/2" > Device "/dev/psaux" > EndSection > > Section "Monitor" > Identifier "Custom Monitor" > VendorName "Gateway" > ModelName "Vivitron 700, CPD-GF200" > HorizSync 31.5-64 > VertRefresh 50-120 > > Modeline "800x600" 36.00 800 824 896 1024 600 601 603 625 > Modeline "800x600" 40.00 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 +hsync +vsync > Modeline "800x600" 50.00 800 856 976 1040 600 637 643 666 +hsync +vsync > Modeline "1024x768" 44.90 1024 1048 1208 1264 768 776 784 817 Interlace > Modeline "1024x768" 65.00 1024 1032 1176 1344 768 771 777 806 -hsync -vsync > Modeline "1024x768" 75.00 1024 1048 1184 1328 768 771 777 806 -hsync -vsync > Modeline "1024x768" 85.00 1024 1032 1152 1360 768 784 787 823 > Modeline "1152x900" 80.00 1152 1209 1399 1513 900 920 930 948 -hsync -vsync > Modeline "1152x900" 95.00 1152 1193 1383 1521 900 920 930 948 -hsync -vsync > Modeline "1280x1024" 80.00 1280 1296 1512 1568 1024 1025 1037 1165 Interlace > Modeline "1280x1024" 110.00 1280 1328 1512 1712 1024 1025 1028 1054 > Modeline "1280x1024" 135.00 1280 1312 1456 1712 1024 1027 1030 1064 > Modeline "1280x1024" 135.00 1280 1312 1416 1664 1024 1027 1030 1064 > EndSection > > Section "Device" > Identifier "AutoProbed (S3 ViRGE/VX:PCI)" > VendorName "AutoProbed (S3 ViRGE/VX:PCI)" > BoardName "S3 ViRGE/VX:PCI" > VideoRam 4096 > # No probed static clocks for this card (good) > EndSection > > Section "Screen" > Driver "svga" > Device "AutoProbed (S3 ViRGE/VX:PCI)" > Monitor "Custom Monitor" > DefaultColorDepth 16 > Subsection "Display" > Depth 16 > Modes "1280x1024" "800x600" "1024x768" "1152x900" > EndSubsection > EndSection > > # End of XF86Config. > # turboxcfg 4.0.1 > # by Scott Stone <sstone@example.com> > # (C) 1998 Pacific HiTech > # > > -------------------------------------------------------------- > Next Meeting: 8 August, Tokyo Station Yaesu central gate 12:30 > featuring Linux on multiple platforms: > i386, Sparc, PA-Risc, Amiga, SGI, Alpha, PalmPilot, ... > Next Nomikai: September, 19:30 Tengu TokyoEkiMae 03-3275-3691 > -------------------------------------------------------------- > Sponsor: PHT, makers of TurboLinux http://www.pht.co.jp > -------------------------------------------------- Scott M.
