There certainly is an upgrade option ... should be pretty obvious once the install program starts up. I upgraded from 4.1 to 5.0 a few months ago, and it worked fine except for the partitioning problem which I'll get to in a minute. Since it's such a major upgrade and you'll want to do a good backup anyway, I don't know if you stand to lose much by just starting over -- except if you've done a lot of mucking around in /etc , upgrading in place will probably preserve most of your changes or at least keep them as backup files. The only problem I had was with partition sizes ... and if you have ample disk space this probably won't be affect you. But I did my upgrade on a machine with limited disk space, and I had it partitioned in a sort of "by-the-book" fashion -- by one of the books, anyway -- with a 20MB / partition and a 24MB /var partition, (with separate /usr, /opt, /usr/local, and /home partitions) which were enough for 4.1. Found out 5.0 needed at least 28 megs for the root partition, and the installation (hmmm ... maybe this was only because I did an FTP install) used a LOT of /tmp space. Anyway, I had to do a lot of shuffling around. Enjoy!
