Since it is a SCSI device it needs to have two ports to allow other
devices to be connected to the SCSI bus. You should check if the SCSI
bus is terminated. I know from my CD-RW that it has a switch to turn
on the termination. If the SCSI bus is not terminated you can get
errors.
