If so, you popclient went bananas. Get the latest sources ( they are from 1996 or so ) and compile it on your system ( this is a lot better than just taking some binaries floating around - believe me, there's nothing like compiling your own binaries. Saves you a lot of trouble ). > Also, trying to use popclient to retrieve mail from my e-w.standlee@example.com > account gives me errors: doPOP3: socket: Unknown error and one other > similar one too. Hmmm....go ahead and compile from the sources. This stinks. > Now, if only I knew how to make smail and popclient get my mail. > Also, I have to do all of my connection stuff as root. Is that right? > Shouldn't I be able to pon as esstand??? Well, you have to. If you set up PPP you have to put it onto a physical device and they are only accessible to root for very good reasons. Actually, mailing and fetching mail can be done with normal user level. > Kashihara-shi <Kintetsu Yamato Yagi> What the heck are you a doing in that Nara prefecture outback. Apears to me like the last outpost of civilization dwn there (believe me, I know Nara prefecture a bit.....).
