Incidentally, what is this real connectivity you have?  Is it a
permanent IP address but not a leased line?  My DNS resolves
sekiya.twics.co.jp to an IP address, but I can't ping it.

I've got a year left on a domain name that I don't really need now,
but I think it would be neat to attach an IP address to it anyway,
especially if I can do something cool with ISDN.  But, anything would
probably cost more than it's worth to me.

What's this DynDNS that was mentioned earlier?
